The Volume is in Very Good Condition rebacked, retaining gilt ruled speckled calf boards, with the more recent spine divided into six compartments by five raised bands, with gilt lettering in the second compartment from the top, and with the leaf edges red speckled. Externally the boards show little scuffing, with bumping and damage to the edges and corners repaired, and with the more recent spine unmarred. Internally the leaves are generally clean and amply margined, with some toning at the front map and title, with far more faint toning or foxing found otherwise.
The Volume is Complete in All Respects With A Folding Map and four plates, including a Briton Warrior, a Chief Druid (which is a possible visual inspiration for Tolkien’s character Gandalf) as well as Boadicea and Merlin. See below for pagination & dimensions.
